Allen Economic Development Group's 2010 annual report available to Icon viewers

On April 25 Bluffton council received a copy of the Allen Economic Development Group's (AEDG) year end report of activities for 2010.

Jeff Sprague of Bluffton, vice president of AEDG, presented the report to council. AEDG is an Icon advertiser.

3.48 inches of rain in past 7 days; 5.21 for entire month - and it's not over

April showers bring May flowers, but this is ridiculous. April showers have already resulted in 5.21 inches of rain.

From April 18 to April 25 the Pandora-Bluffton area has experience 3.48 inches of rain, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

And, of the first 25 days of April, 19 of those are in the precipitation column.

The trout are back! On April 26 Buckeye Quarry was stocked with enough trout to last until Labor Day. The Bluffton Sportsmen's Club stocked the quarry as a preparation for the May 1 trout derby.

Bluffton University students honored for academic excellence

Bluffton University recognized many of its top students for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum on April 26.

Introduced as distinguished scholars in their respective academic areas were 33 seniors. Sarah Diller of Bluffton was honored as the outstanding performer in both theatre and music, and Janice Graham of Gomer, Ohio, accepted the Distinguished Scholar in Sport Management award for her son Jacob, who died in an auto accident in March.

Library seeks teen volunteers for summer

Bluffton Public Library is looking for Volunteens (teen volunteers) between the ages of 12 and 18 for the Summer Reading Club, "One World Many Stories," beginning June 6.

The club is designed to keep children reading and learning throughout the summer months. Volunteens assist children with registering for the club, turning in the hours they read for prizes and with weekly programs.
