BVHS offers scholarships to area students, BVHS associates

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS), Findlay, is offering educational scholarships to individuals pursuing health care careers. High school seniors entering college, current college students and BVHS associates are eligible to apply.

A complete list of scholarships, along with applications, deadlines, qualifications, and contact information can be viewed at www.bvhealthsystem.org by clicking on the Scholarship link under the Health Education menu.

Bluffton Diamond Sports sign-ups underway; form available on The Icon

Bluffton Diamond Sports is now holding sign-ups for spring/summer baseball and softball.

A sign-up form is available to download at the bottom of this story.

Registration forms may be picked up at the elementary school or middle school offices. The forms will also be available to pick up and fill out at sign-ups.

Bluffton Diamond Sports is open to boys ages 7 to 14 and girls ages 8 to 14. Forms may be picked up and turned in on the following dates/times and locations:

Tuesday's poet reading postponed

A reading by poet and author Robert Rhodes, scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bluffton University, has been postponed due to weather forcing cancellation of his travel plans.

The community garage sale Friday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26, offers something for everyone, according to members of the SHANNON Service Club, sponsoring the event.

"Of special interest to many is coin dealer Leonard Wilson, who will appraise your coins and buy them on the spot, so bring your old and unusual coins, gold, and silver," said Duane Bollenbacher.

A little "R and R" for Bluffton alumnae on March 5

Bluffton University alumnae can enjoy a day out of the ordinary on Saturday, March 5, when the university's Women's Council hosts the second annual Women R&R (Reconnecting and Reaching Out).

The day of relaxation and reminiscing with college friends includes entertainment, as well as reaching out to current female Bluffton students. Last year's attendees donated $700 to support the Women's Council Professional Enrichment Grant for Women, which helps female students gain professional experience in an anticipated career.
