Did you know that 77 percent of the Icon viewers clip their fingernails?

Somewhere in a bookstore is a book titled "How to Lie With Statistics." We dusted that old timer off the shelf and present you a column on the "average" Icon viewer's opinion.

Based only on our frequent poll questions posed at the bottom of the home page, we've created the perfect snapshot of the Icon viewer. We aren't lying about the findings; we simply realize there's no scientific proof to our findings. So, perhaps we are lying with statistics.

Nevertheless here's's how Icon viewers have expressed themselves in several of our ever-so-serious questions:

Marcella Looker 1913-2010

Marcella Looker, 97, of Pandora died 12:30 p.m. March 24, 2010, at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.

She was born Jan. 24, 1913, in Putnam County to Philip and Elizabeth Steiner Basinger. She married Ernest J. Looker Jr. on Nov. 11, 1973 and he died Dec. 4, 1984.

Mrs. Looker and been employed by Readrite Meter Works, Bluffton as an assembly worker and as an office worker at Steiner Bros., Lima, Leland Diller Insurance, Bluffton and Bluffton Community Hospital. She also worked as a housekeeper and caregiver for Mrs. A.P. Steiner in Waynesboro, Pa.

Infant and child CPR techniques class registration deadline April 5

A course covering infant and child CPR techniques will take place at Bluffton Public Library on Thursday, April 15, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Representatives of the Allen County Chapter of the American Cross will be teaching the course. The cost is $35 per participant and the course is open to people ages 10 years old and above.

Senior art show opens March 29

The Bluffton University Art Department will feature the original artwork of two senior students, Sara Richer and Donelle Parker, in an exhibition opening March 29.

Free and open to the public, the exhibit will be on display until April 11 with the exception of April 2-5, when it will be closed for Easter break. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. weekends in the Sauder Visual Arts Center's Grace Albrecht Gallery.

Tickets on sale April 1 for 'Little Women'

Tickets go on sale April 1 for Bluffton University's May Day weekend production of "Little Women," a musical adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott novel.

Dr. Melissa Friesen, associate professor and chair of theatre and communication at Bluffton, will direct the show, being staged May 6-8 as part of the university's annual May Day celebration. Curtain time is 8 p.m. in Founders Hall. Tickets, $12 for reserved seats and $5 for bleacher seats, are available by contacting the box office at 419-358-3239 or [email protected].

University forum addresses Christian-Muslim peace

"Building Peace Relations between Muslims and Christians: Lessons from Ethiopia and the Meserete Kristos Church" is the topic of Bluffton University's C. Henry Smith Forum, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
