During March eight Bluffton and Pandora congregations will partner with Samaritan House and Crossroads Crisis Center in Lima, through the “Supply Our Sisters,” (SOS) program, according to Amy Mikesell.
SOS is a month-long collection of feminine hygiene products (pads and tampons of various types) and the churches are collection points.
“Women make up 32 percent of the homeless population. Feminine hygiene products are essential, but are rarely donated to homeless shelters and women’s resource centers,” said Mikesell.
All are invited to attend First Mennonite Church's Ash Wednesday service at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18. The service opens FMC's Lenten series of "Upside Down and Inside Out," with imposition of ashes, prayers around the cross, music, and scripture.
Pastors Steven Yoder and Gloria Hernandez Bucher will lead the service, with Lucia Unrau as pianist.
