Beef and noodle dinner Friday evening at St. John's UCC

St. John's United Church of Christ will serve an "eat in" or tailgate out" beef and noodle dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22, at the church on the corner of Jackson and College Avenue.

It's billed as a "quick supper before the Bluffton-Paulding football game at Harmon Field." Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for students and free for children 4 and under.

ONU University Singers at Bluffton First UMC

The University Singers from Ohio Northern University will perform at First United Methodist Church, Bluffton at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct.27. The concert is part of the choir's fall tour.

The select, 47-voice choir will perform a variety of works including classical and spiritual pieces. The performance is in the sanctuary at 116 Church St.. The public is invited. Admission is free; a free-will offering will be accepted to help cover the choir's expenses.

Trinity United Methodist holds coat drive

Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church is hold its annual coat drive. Items collected include boats, scarves, hats, mittens and gloves. Drop-off sites are at several Bluffton locations including:

  • BFR
  • Bluffton Public Library
  • Community Market
  • Luke's
  • First National Bank
  • Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church, State Route 103

Pastor Jim Mattek guest speaker at Trinity Lutheran

Pastor Jim Mattek, former pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Findlay, will be the guest preacher at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera, on Sunday, Oct. 17.

He is the preacher at both the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. Pastor Mattek now serves with the Wisconsin Lutheran Child & Family Services and will also give a presentation in the 9:20 a.m. Bible Class about a new counseling service that has begun in this area.

Memorial service Oct. 23 at Richland Manor

Richland Manor will host a candlelight memorial service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23. The service will be held by Pastor Mark Neddeau of Shepherd's Flock Apostolic Church, who is presently Chaplain at the Manor.

This service will memorialize those residents who died away in 2009-2010, while offering families a moment to reflect on their lives and also take the opportunity to heal, re-unite and deal with the many complex emotions death can leave behind.

October community meals on 7th and 21st

Two community meals are scheduled in November by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association. Both meals are at 6 p.m. at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center.

The meals are Thursday, Oct. 7, hosted by the Bluffton Presbyterian Church, and Thursday, Oct. 21, hosted by the Mennonite Memorial Home.

The meals are open to the public. Donations accepted are given to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program food pantry.
