Whose class are you in? That is the biggest question this week for Bluffton elementary-age youth. The school class lists were posted Friday on the elementary school doors. It's a popular place to be this week.

Bluffton schools start on Monday, Aug. 25, and the Bluffton school board will act on several items tonight (Aug. 18) to finalize preparations for the new school year.

On the board agenda includes:
• Executive session to discuss employment of personnel
• A long-term substitute teacher contract to Erin Oberly, effective Aug. 22
• Service resolution with Lugibihl Spray Service
• Substitute teacher action for 10 persons
• Approval of transportation routing plan
• Contracts and assignments for eight coaches

The Village of Bluffton's insurance carrier has okayed an initial payment of $146,645.64 for the damage caused to the town hall as a result of the sprinkler head that broke in May.

AUG. 18 COUNCIL AGENDA AT BOTTOM OF STORY

In his report to council, Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator,  will inform council that this amount was based on an initial claim of $174,378.98 submitted by the adjustor. It was reduced by the village's $1,000 deductible and $26,733.34 in depreciation.
