The Lima Rotary Club will announce that at its meeting on Monday, Aug. 18, its scholarship awards will surpass the $500,000 mark.
The Lima Rotary Club began its scholarship program in 2001 as an economic development opportunity. Applicants must live or work in Allen County and be attending an accredited institution within Allen County to be eligible for a scholarship. They are generally non-traditional and qualify by need. The goal of the program is to help the students achieve their educational goals, and for them to remain and work in Allen County.

Ed Yagerman leads a class in “Space Landscapes” at the Bluffton Public Library at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18, according to Esther Birkey, youth services director.
Titled “To Infinity and Beyond,” the program is open to teens and adults and takes place in the lower level car park of the library.

To participate bring a poster board, one can of black spray paint, two cans of colored spray paint and wear old clothes.
Spend an evening with friends creating individual sunflower paintings at the Paint & Sip event on Thursday, Sept. 4, said Carole Enneking, director of BFR Sports and Fitness.
"BFR will sponsor this fun program featuring professional art instruction by Marilyn's Artistry of Ada from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Bluffton Sportsman Club," she said.
