The Bluffton Public Library invites patrons to participate in "Big Library Read," this summer.

Millions of readers around the world are participating in the Big Library Read of the eBook "A Pedigree to Die For." The program runs June 3-18. 

Persons may obtain a free eBook at: ohioebooks.org.

Fizz, Boom, Read summer storytime schedule at the Bluffton Public Library is in place. here's the storytime schedule for pre-schoolers (ages 3 to 5). Session are Mondays at 6:30 p.m. or Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

June 9-10: Space

June 23-24: Sound and music
July 7-8: Our senses
July 14-15: Weather and water
July 21-22: Animals

Depending upon the water temperature and weather condition, the Bluffton Swimming Pool is slated for a Memorial Day Weekend opening.

Earlier this spring the Bluffton council approved the 2014 Bluffton Community Swimming Pool staff. Here is the staff list:

Sixth grader Erin Murray of Bluffton, Ohio was the local and regional winner for her essay written for the DAR American History essay. Fifth grader Danny Kelly of St. Michael’s School in Findlay won second place in the local Fort Findlay contest.

The students were to write an essay about an historic or fictional child who lived at the time of the American Revolutionary War. Erin, a student at Cory-Rawson School, won first place award from the Fort Findlay Chapter for her essay and went on to be the winner of the Northwest Ohio Branch of the Ohio DAR contest.

Several Bluffton area students were named to the Ohio Northern University deans' list for the spring semester 2014. They are:

Matthew Deter, son of Bill and Joan Deter, Bluffton. He is a sophomore majoring in exercise physiology.

Lauren Hector, daughter of D. Keith and Rhonda Hector, Mount Cory. She is a senior majoring in graphic design.

Andrea Hines, daughter of Lisa Hines, Venedocia, and James Hines, Bluffton. She is a sixth year pharmacy major.

Elita Smith, daughter of Jeffrey and Melinda Smith, Bluffton. She is a sophomore majoring in management.

The face of Bluffton village government changed on May 19. And its change is not yet complete.

During the first council session following the “flooding” of the town hall, Mitch Kingsley, council president, announced his resignation as council president. He, however, did not resign from council and plans to retain his seat until later this year when he will resign.
