Kick-off your holiday shopping on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 1-4 p.m. at St. John’s UCC church, 223 W. College Ave., in Bluffton. Stop in anytime for free samples, refreshments and a chance to win $50 in free products.

Several downtown Bluffton businesses invite Icon viewers to a Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, Christmas open house. 

Many businesses are participating in the event. Each has several special offers. Included in the open house are:

• Town and Country Flowers, 121 S. Main St.
Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A special coupon, which is a printer-friendly attachment at the bottom of this story provides $5 off a $30 purchase. The coupon is good through Dec. 31, 2013.

Bluffton is in from some interesting music on Wednesday. The Moxie Strings will spend a day with Bluffton school students and will then perform at 7 p.m. in the Bluffton town hall as part of the Town Hall Concert Series.

Rachel Lewis, Bluffton schools strings teacher said, "I am very excited about The Moxie Strings coming to Bluffton. This is a trio including a fiddle player, electric cello player and a percussionist. The group has a with Celtic and bluegrass style of playing." 

It's a season-changer. About this time each fall Bluffton village employees flush town fire hydrants. Here's the steam of water going into the basin in front of the post office on Main Street.

Greg's Pharmacy, 126 N. Main St., Bluffton will hold its 15th annual Ladies Day Sale Friday, Nov. 8, and Saturday, Nov. 9.
