The Bluffton elementary school 2013-14 school supply list is now posted on The Icon. The list covers first through fifth grade. There are no supplies required for kindergarten students. The list is an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Elementary students and their parents have an opportunity to meet their teachers from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23. The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 26. The first day of classes for kindergarten is Thursday. Aug. 29.

 

Bluffton Scrap Artist Quilters 9th annual fall festival quilt show is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Bluffton elementary school gym. It is part of the Bluffton fall festival, which has events taking place in several other locations in the community.

Quilt registration takes place Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Thursday, Sept. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Forever in Stitches, 120 N. Main St., Bluffton.

All community quilters are welcome to display their quilts. All quilts must be registered to be exhibited.

Mark Bankert of Basinger Plumbing and Heating, 3090 Road R, Pandora, recently completed the Platinum Water Certification Program, a two-day program from Chandler Systems, Inc., Ashland. Chandler is a manufacturer of water treatment equipment.

• Equipment sizing
• Installation
• Troubleshooting
• Service and sales

Bankert has been with Basinger Plumbing and Heating for 19 years. 

Krysti's Music Studio's fall lessons start on Monday, Aug. 26, according to Krysti Schey.

"We offer lessons in piano, voice, guitar, oboe, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, flute, cello, violin, viola, theory and composition, as well as art classes and now drum lessons."

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Aug. 13 newsletter is now available to Icon viewers. It offers information about several late summer and fall events in Bluffton. The newsletter is an attachment at the bottom of this story.

The chamber has extended an invitation to individuals interested in helping to promote Bluffton to become chamber members. A one-year individual membership is only $50.

Presently the chamber has 182 members. One additional attachment to this story includes a list of chamber benefits, which includes an application form for individuals.
