Brauen's Gourds, 7140 Tom Fett Road, south of Bluffton, hold their annual fall open house Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9, according to Don and Jodi Brauen.
Open house hours are:
Saturday, Sept. 8
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 9
1 to 4 p.m.

It all starts on Grove Street. The village water line upgrade project is underway. Several streets in Bluffton are on the list for new pipes. The work began on Monday. Click for a video.

Bluffton High School girls' soccer team defeated Ada 10-1 at Ada on Aug. 28. It was an awesome NWC opening win for the Pirates.

Two faculty members and two vice presidents are joining the Bluffton University community this academic year along with several new staff members and graduate assistant coaches in athletics.

New assistant professors for 2012-13 are Dr. Martina Cucchiara, in history, and Milagros Quiles, in Spanish. Meanwhile, Dr. Julie DeGraw, vice president for student life and dean of students, and Ron Headings, vice president for enrollment management and marketing, have come to campus as new members of President James Harder’s Cabinet.

Katherine Jo Wilson

Katherine Jo Wilson, 58, of Findlay died at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 27, 2012, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born March 18, 1954, in Lima to Robert F. and Betty Davenport Walters. Her mother survives in Bluffton. On Sept. 23, 1995 she married John D. Wilson and he survives.
She worked with her husband at Customer Service Transport, Findlay. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and decorating. She was a 1972 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School.

Merilyn J. Crabill

Merilyn J. Crabill, 94, of Arlington died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby, after a brief illness. She was born on June 5, 1918 to the late John and Goldie (Burns) Battles in Bluffton, OH. She married William "Ed" Crabill on May 26, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2009, after 63 years of marriage.
