The Impressions, the award-winning show choir of Cory-Rawson High School, will present Cabaret 2012 at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28 in the Cory-Rawson Auditorium.

Tickets are adults $7 and students $5 and may be purchased at the door both Friday and Saturday evenings.

Cabaret 2012 is the end-of-the-year performance and celebration of the talented members of the Impressions and Stingers - award winning back-up combo for the Impressions.

Michael Liska, senior, is the Bluffton High School student of the month for March.

He is a member of Math Club, Spanish Club, Latin Club, National Honor Society, choir, show choir, and for the past four years he served as class president and as a member of the student senate.

Taking home honors from the April 17 Athletics Awards Forum at Bluffton University were (left to right) Andrew Chaffee, Todd Trotter and Jenna Eshleman.

For the first time since 1986, Bluffton University on April 17 recognized co-recipients of its award for outstanding senior male athlete.

Sharing the A.C. Burcky Award were cross country and track athlete Andrew Chaffee of Clarkston, Mich., and football player Todd Trotter of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Also honored at Bluffton's annual Athletics Awards Forum was volleyball player Jenna Eshleman of Landisville, Pa., who won the Kathryn E. Little Award as outstanding senior female athlete.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" (PG) and "The Vow" (PG-13) will be showing at the theatre from April 20-26.

Show times follow:

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island - Each evening at 7 PM with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 and 4 PM.

The Vow - Each evening at 9:30 PM.

Marilyn Treft

Marilyn Faith Painter Treft, 77, died, April 17, 2012. She was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Rawson to Warren and Georgia Smith Painter and they preceded her in death. On May 20, 1955 she married John LeRoy Treft from Findlay and he survives in Bluffton.

Also surviving are two sons, John Mark Treft, Charles Millard (Susan) Treft, two daughters, Myra Faith (Randy) Warnecke, Christine Faith (David) Buxton, and a sister, Betty Marie Painter Helms. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Robert Painter.

Area residents should watch for an invitation in the mail to participate in this year's Bluffton Hospital Auxiliary Hearts and Hands Campaign, underway this month, according to Marty Lemley, auxiliary president.

"Last year through everyone's generous support the campaign and Auxiliary fundraisers enabled us to donate $15,000 for the surgery-emergency room expansion," said Lemley.

The Auxiliary has pledged $75,000 for a five-year period toward this project. The current drive seeks monetary donations to assist in this project.
