Welcome to The Bluffton Icon. Our focus is Bluffton, but you already know that.
We launched The Icon in late September, 2009. Starting at zero, we will soon experience 35,000 total views. Here's our growth record:
o In November 1,050 average views a week.
o In December 1,750 average views a week. o In January 2,450 average views a week.
You can see we are growing as the word gets out. We change the site daily to keep viewer interest. As we evolve we add new features.
Two master classes for strings students (one for beginngers; one for advanced students) with the Alaska String Band will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 15, in the Bluffton Middle School band room. The classes are sponsored by the Bluffton Music Boosters
The classes are on Presidents' Day. There is no school that day, so students interested in attending must sign up to participate.
The Alaska String Band is a concert group comprised of members of a single family performing with guitar, twin violin-fiddles, bass, mandolin, ukulele, percussion and vocals.
Robert Brock, mission representative with The Voice of the Martyrs, will speak at 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church.
The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, inter-demoninational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide.
Brock has been with VOM since 1993 and has traveled to more than 35 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and the Middle East. He meets with families of martyrs and delivers aid, relief and spiritual encouragement.
