Sex crime has conviction
Bluffton police report that a sex crimes investigation from last summer has resulted in a recent conviction in the Allen County Common Pleas Court.
Police were contacted by the mother of a14-year-old Bluffton female reporting the discovery of several occasions where the girl was sexually active with the woman's boyfriend.
Terry A. Gibson, 44, was originally indicted by an Allen County Grand Jury on three counts of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor, each being a third degree felony, according to Rick Skilliter, Bluffton police chief.
Consistent with a plea negotiation, Gibson plead guilty to one of the counts. Judge Richard Warren accepted the plea and ordered Gibson to serve 120 days in the Allen County jail, with credit being given for some time served, required the successful completion of the Allen County Sex Offender Risk Reduction Court Program, that there be no contact with the victim, and ordered four year of community control (probation). Should the community control be violated, Gibson would serve four years in a state prison.
Gibson was also found to be a Tier I sex offender, and will be required to register annually for 15 years with his local sheriff's office.
