School may be out soon - but summer strings is just getting underway
School may be out soon, but summer strings program is almost ready to begin.
According to Rachael Lewis, Bluffton schools string instructor, the summer program begins Tuesday, June 5. Sessions continue June 12, July 3, July 10 and July 17. (No sessions June 19 or June 26).
"The program is for students wishing to play their instrument during the summer," said Lewis. "This program is free and will be held in the strings or middle school band room. The students may come to as many of the classes as their summer schedule permits."
The Tuesday schedule for classes follows:
9 a.m. - Beginning strings (learning a new instrument)
9:30 a.m. - Junior high strings (former 6-7 graders)
10 a.m. - Sixth grade strings (former 5th graders)
10:30 a.m. - Fifth grade strings (former 4th graders)
11 a.m. - High school strings (upper grades)
1 to 1:45 p.m. - Fiddling (grades 7 to high school)
Students are encouraged to rent their instruments over the summer to practice, especially those students whishing to participate in the summer program according to Lewis.
Summer rent is $15 and is made payable to: Bluffton Music Boosters.
