Bluffton food pantry low on certain items - here's the list
The Bluffton food pantry is currently in need of specific items for its clients, according to Jami Crawfis, director.
Persons may drop this items off at the St. John's United Church of Christ any weekday morning at the College Avenue entrance.
The food pantry is operated by the Bluffton Community Assistance Program.
Here are some items that would be good for use in the food pantry:
Cereals and breakfast items
Pastas and sauces
Spaghettios and similar canned foods
Canned fruits, especially mandarin oranges, peaches, pears, and applesauce
Canned vegetables (no corn or green beans are needed at this time)
Macaroni and cheese
Chunky soups (Progresso or similar)
Campbell soups
Crackers and similar snacks
Packaged cookies
Tortillas, tacos, and packaged taco meals
Lotions and creams
Deodorant, shampoo and hair care products (Soaps and toothpaste are not needed at this time)
Paper products – TP, paper towels, tissues and Kleenex
Canned meats – beef and chicken
Condiments – catsup, mustard, mayo, salad dressing
Baked beans
Hamburger helper
Tuna and tuna helper
Packaged potatoes and Rice meals
Juice (apple, orange, cranapple, not frozen)
Coffee, tea
Dog and cat food
Peanut butter and jelly
According to Nancy Yeager, who is one of the volunteers who stocks the food pantry shelves, "These items are what seem to be the most taken and appreciated by the clients. There are other products that can certainly be given also as shoppers may be moved to purchase something in addition to this list when they are doing their own shopping.
"Bread is handed out each month thanks to a donor couple, through one of the bread companies that delivers the oversupplies. The Community Assistance Program purchases purchases eggs. Other donations come in randomly as the year moves along.
