Women's Soccer stuns RHIT 1-0 on Senior Day
The Bluffton University women's soccer team stunned Rose-Hulman with a Brittany Huff (Union/Northmont) free kick from beyond midfield for a 1-0 victory on Senior Day! Rose fell to 7-8-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton improved to 3-12 and 2-5 in the HCAC.
A Rose-Hulman foul in minute 62 set up Huff for more of her long-distance heroics. The All-HCAC defender delivered once again with a shot from behind the center line, launching it over the keepers hands into the center of the net for a 1-0 lead! Bluffton did what it needed to do down the stretch for just its second-ever win (2010) over the Fightin' Engineers!
Skylar Liming (St. Marys/Memorial) fired a team-high three shots, all on goal, for the Beavers. Freshman Jules Frazier (Nova/Mapleton) was superb with 14 saves for her first victory and even better, her first clean sheet!
Rose finished with a 24-8 edge in shots, 14-6 on frame. The visitors finished with four corner kicks compared to one for the Beavers.
The Beavers head to Manchester University looking for their third HCAC victory on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. in North Manchester, Ind.
