Softball: Bluffton extends win streak with another whitewash

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton defeated local rival Cory-Rawson 10-0 in run-rule shortened non-conference softball action Tuesday evening.
The Lady Pirates improved to 16-1 with their 15th consecutive win. Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets fell to 2-13 with the defeat.
It was Bluffton's fourth consecutive shutout win, and their fifth whitewash in the last seven outings.
Pirate hurler Libby Schaadt improved her record to 14 -1 with a five-inning one-hitter. She struck out seven Hornets and walked none to post her third straight 10-0 victory.
Bluffton led 3-0 after one inning and extended the margin to 7-0 after three frames. The Pirates made it a 10-run rule win by adding one run in the fourth and two more in the home fifth.
Pirate Averey Rumer led the 10-hit offense with four singles, three runs and two stolen bases. Katie Prater also collected two doubles, a single and two runs scored.
Brinkley Garmatter contributed a double, single and two runs batted in for Bluffton. Alivia Koenig belted a two-run double while Mara Minnig added a single.
Taylor Born singled for the lone Hornet hit.
C-R committed five errors while Bluffton played error-less defense for the second night in a row.
