Oberdorf sets new 36-hole record
The Bluffton University women's golf team capped off its weekend of hosting the HCAC Preview with a 376 on Sunday, Sept. 22. Bluffton's 750 for the tournament is good for 2nd all-time (36 holes).
A 94 by Brylee Oberdorf (Green Springs/Clyde) helped her establish a new 36-hole record for the women (179) just a day after she set the 18-hole record with an 85! Fellow sophomore Abby Bullion (Bellevue) chopped 11 strokes off her Saturday score when she fired a team-low 91 on Sunday. Freshman Haley Gill (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) followed her 91 on Saturday with a 93 on Sunday, while Keely Briggs (Franklin) went 98-98 for the tournament.
Lexie Lamar from Transylvania and Rachel Zhang tied for top honors with identical scores of 157, but it took Zhang just one hole to earn medalist honors as her Engineers also took home the team title with a score of 640.
Bluffton will have the next weekend off before returning to action at Hidden Creek Golf Club for the UNOH Invite on Sunday, Oct. 6, and Monday, Oct. 7. The Beavers will be back at the Bluffton Golf Club on Oct. 12-13 when they host the 2019 HCAC Championship.
