BHS stands 5-1 in NWC after blanking Crestview 5-0

CONVOY - The visiting Bluffton girls soccer team blanked Crestview 5-0 for a decisive Northwest Conference win Monday evening.
The Lady Pirates improved to 9-5-1 and 5-1 against league opponents with the victory. Clara Matthews and Laykin Garmatter each netted a pair of goals to pace the victory.
The game was scoreless for the first 30 minutes when the Bluffton offense began to find the back of the net.
Pirate junior Matthews tallied the first goal in the 31st minute. Classmate Garmatter made it 2-0 at halftime with another goal shortly before intermission.
Just two minutes into the second half, Garmatter extended the lead to 3-0 with her second score. Matthews netted her second goal five minutes later to make it 4-0.
Freshman Riley Eachus tallied the fifth and last goal with 12 minutes left to provide the final margin.
Bluffton put 14 of its 23 shots on goal. Crestview directed three of its mere six shots on target.
Crestview made seven saves to three by the Pirates.
Bluffton hosts winless league foe Delphos Jefferson (0-13, 0-4 NWC) Thursday, October 10 at 5 p.m. in the regular season finale.
