United Way of Greater Lima names new president-CEO
The United Way of Greater Lima announced today they have hired Erin Walsh Hardesty as the new President and CEO. She will be taking over in March 2022, replacing Derek Stemen who will be joining LifeWise Academy to serve as their Director of Advancement. LifeWise Academy positively impacts students, schools, and communities by providing a Bible-based, character-focused, Released Time Religious Instruction program.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to serve this community during my time at the United Way,” says Derek Stemen. “I want to thank all of our Board Members, Donors, Partner Agencies, Volunteers and Staff that support the United Way. I will always believe in the work of the United Way and how it improves lives by uniting the caring power of our community.”
Erin Walsh Hardesty brings a great combination of passion and experience. Erin has served on just about every committee established at the United Way. She served as a campaign chair in 2011 and raised over $2 million for the community. She also served on the Board of Directors for 12 years, including serving as the Board Chair in 2019. Over the past few years, she has served as the Labor Liaison helping connect local unions to the work of the United Way.
“I’m excited for this opportunity as the United Way has been my passion for over 30 years,” says Erin Walsh Hardesty. “I look forward to continuing the great momentum Derek started when he joined the organization. He laid wonderful groundwork and we intend to keep that going so we can continue to impact lives in our community.”
Hardesty retired from the financial industry in 2020 after 40 plus years. She is a Jefferson award winner, and, an Athena Award finalist.
