Bluffton Lions October 2024 news
The Bluffton Lions Club newsletter provides a month-to-month look at the who, what, when and where of this local service club.
On September 28, Bluffton Lions helping with roadside clean-up were president Jackie Bourassa, Mark Bourassa, Cindy Lee, Dwain Hall, Mark Minnig, Clair Winebar and committee chair Andrew Rager. ▶︎
On October 1, Bluffton Lions met at Town Hall for an evening of pizza and fellowship with the Lion members and potential new members. The speaker was 2nd Vice District Governor Lion Pam Olachia. She spoke on her experiences as a Lion, also sharing her history and history of the Lion’s organization. Lion Olachia recently moved to Ohio and joined the Wapakoneta Lions Club.
On October 3 the Bluffton Lions served the community meal at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, where 83 meals were served with $196 collected for the Food Pantry.
Servers were Lions John Rich, chairman; Dwain Hall, Ron Lora, Mark Bourassa, Ed Yeager, with Dennis Morrison and Barbara Plaugher.
On October 15, Bluffton High School students who attended American Legion Buckeye Boys and Girls State in June were introduced to the Bluffton Lions:.Asa Clingerman; Luke Jebsen; Mackay Tuttle; Avery Smith. These students learn how the U.S. government is run during the eight-day experience.
Also on October 15, Courtnee Morris, Technology Coordinator for Bluffton Schools was the speaker on Building Your Brain on Artificial Intelligence.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Service project for Christmas: collecting needed items for the Bluffton Food Pantry. In need of canned meats, cereals, chunky style soups, creamy peanut butter, paper towels, toilet paper, bath and hand soap, lotions and deodorants. Bring an item to the November meetings.
1,000 Tree Challenge: Ohio Lions are challenged to work together to plant 1000 trees by June 2025. Bluffton Lions are asked to plant their tree and report to the secretary, Barbara Plaugher.

November 5 - Club meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Board to meet at 6:00 p.m.
November 9 - Cabinet meeting at Bluffton Town Hall at 9:30 a.m.
November 14 - North West Eye Care Foundation to meet at McComb Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m.
November 19 - Club meeting at noon Town Hall. Speaker will be Bob Antibus from Johnny Appleseed Parks. Greg’s sandwiches are available, please reserve. 50/50 charity raffle.
November 30: Blaze of Lights Parade - Bluffton Lions will have a spot in the parade and need candy to distribute to the kids. Please bring a bag of candy to the November club meetings.
December 3 - Bluffton Lions Christmas Party
