Bluffton University junior Lauren Hutton (New Riegel) was recently named First Team All-Heartland Conference following the 2011-12 women's basketball season. She was one of only 12 women selected by the HCAC women's basketball coaches.
Thomas D. Nusbaum, 70 of Bluffton died at 10:20 a.m., Feb. 28, 2012, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
He was born Jan. 28, 1942, in Lima to Elmer and Florence (Krites) Nusbaum who preceded him in death. On June 15, 1963, he married Barbara Shepler and she survives.
He retired from Dana Corporation, Lima. After retirement he was a bus driver for Bluffton Schools. He was a member of the Eagles, Lima. He had been a member of the Bluffton Fire & EMS Departments.
Kenneth E. Geiger, 87 of Bluffton died at 10:45a.m. Feb. 27, 2012, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton.
March 28 Civic Engagement Day: Activities throughout the day center around Bluffton's 2011-12 civic engagement theme, "Public Health: Promoting Wellness for Self and Community." Delivering the keynote address at 8 p.m. in Founders Hall will be Tony Hall, executive director of the Alliance to End Hunger and former Ohio congressman and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture.
March 26 Art exhibit: Senior Exhibition by Todd Trotter of Cincinnati; Kevin Williams of Pandora, Ohio; and Heidi Wiebe of Millersburg, Ohio, Grace Albrecht Gallery, Sauder Visual Arts Center. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturday, March 31, and the closing day, Sunday, April 1, when a reception will be held for the artists from 1-3 p.m.
