March 12 Film: "Afghanistan Unveiled," a documentary by Afghan women including Mehria Azizi, who will be present for the screening at 8 p.m. in Stutzman Lecture Hall, Centennial Hall. Afterward, Azizi will facilitate discussion of her filmmaking experiences and conditions in Afghanistan. Also open to the public will be a 7:30 p.m. reception with Azizi and fellow Afghan Suraya Sadeed, founder and executive director of the nonprofit Help the Afghan Children and author of "Forbidden Lessons in a Kabul Guesthouse."

March 12 Art exhibit: "Three Blind Mice," by seniors Kelsey Greeley of Elida, Ohio; Abby Ferrell of Arlington, Ohio; and Heather Smith of Elkhart, Ind., Grace Albrecht Gallery, Sauder Visual Arts Center. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturday, March 17, and the closing day, Sunday, March 18, when a reception will be held for the artists from 1-3 p.m.

A "Superior" orchestra

The Bluffton High School string orchestra, directed by Rachael Lewis, received a "Superior" rating at the Feb. 24-25 OMEA large group state adjudicated event. Click for details and names of orchestr players.

Then on Thursday, March 8, the library's Teen Advisory Group will host the "Super Geek" Olympics at 3:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to "geek out" for the "Geekalicious Costume Contest." Other fun activities for this event include a socks with sandals relay, useless trivia contest and a "four eyes" sorting game.

On Tuesday, March 6, the library will show off its DVD collection with a screening of a Sherlock Holmes movie at 3:15 p.m. The film is rated PG-13. Teens attending may bring their own snacks and/or beverages.

A discussion of Rebecca Skloot's book "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" will take place in the family room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Monday, March 26, at 3 p.m. Maple Crest Senior Living Village is located at 700 Maple Crest Ct., Bluffton.

Summary

Bluffton First United Methodist Church will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser Wednesday, March 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the First UMC Fellowship Hall (church basement).
Tickets cost $7 each and the meal includes baked spaghetti, salad, breadstick and a drink.
Tickets may be purchased from any First UMC middle or high school student or in the church office from now through Saturday, March 10.
Desserts will be available on a donation basis. A limited number of tickets will be for sale at the door, and carry-out will be available.
