Jerry and Lori Lewis join a long list of Bluffton residents recognized over the years by the Bluffton Lions Club. This week the couple received the title of Citizens of the Year by the Lions Club. The annual award dates back to the early 1980s.
A banquet honoring the couple is planned for 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, in the Patio Room of Maple Crest. The event is open to the public. Persons interested in attending need to make reservations by Friday, March 18, to either Vanessa Greer, Lions president (419-369-4721) or Daryl Shields, Lions program chair (419-358-0810).
Jane Austen fans are invited to participate in a weekly series of movies at the Bluffton Public Library in March and early April. Each movie is shows at 1:30 p.m.

March is a busy month at the Bluffton Public Library. Teen Tech Week is observed March 6-12, Women's History Month is observed the entire month. Several special programs are held.
Outdoorsman Gerry Caillouet is this year's guest speaker at the wild game night dinner hosted by Ebenezer Mennonite Church.
Tickets are now on sale at the church for the Saturday, March 26, dinner and program. The event will take place in the church's Crossroads Ministry Center.
Caillouet hosts and produces God's Great Outdoors, an adventurous 25-minute weekly syndicated radio program. The program is known for its helpful tips regarding the outdoors and its reflection on the Christian walk.
Friday, March 11, is the deadline to order a box lunch for Bluffton University's annual Bach's Lunch, set for noon on Friday, March 18, in the Gilliom Room of Mosiman Hall.
Open to the public, Bach's Lunch will feature performances by Bluffton music students. Each box lunch is $6.50 and may be ordered by contacting Jodi Diller in the music department at [email protected] or 419-358-3347. Individuals are also welcome to bring their own lunch.
Sister Helen Prejean, by her own admission, met Lloyd LeBlanc at the worst possible time.
But what he taught her made LeBlanc the hero, she says, of the story that made Prejean possibly the best-known opponent of the death penalty in America.
Miriam Rumsey just moved in to Maple Crest a week or so ago, from Otterbein-Cridersville. She doesn't have a computer and didn't know anything about the Icon, although she said she talked with somebody named Fred about the plate. She didn't know how to get in touch with you. No, this is not just "another" Bluffton history book. Here's a history book centering on historical footnotes cut from all the other attempts at writing Bluffton history. You might consider it a collection of scraps from the wastebasket of Bluffton's history writers.
