Jim Ream

A benefit to assist with medical expenses involving a kidney transplant for Bluffton resident Jim Ream is planned from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 19, in the Bluffton middle school.

Ream of 212 S. Main St., lost his first kidney when he was 26. He is currently on dialysis three days a week. He has passed all testing required to have a transplant and has a possible donor.

The fundraiser is planned to help offset the costs of having the transplant completed and for any future expenses that might occur.

Nick Prater and his catch

Nick Prater's shirt reads "What A Catch!" Nick caught the largest fist at the Bluffton Cub Scout Fishing Derby, held on Saturday, June 12 at the Buckeye.

Nick caught a 6.5-pound, 24-inch-long carp with artificial bait on his Sponge Bob Square Pants fishing pole. From 9 a.m. to noon, 23 cub scouts, 3 boy scouts, 9 scout leaders and 29 other family members (siblings, parents and grandparents) had a fun morning of fishing.

The Bluffton Sportsmen's Club gave the scouts and their families fishing badges for the day's event.

If Bluffton is a Blaze of Lights in the winter, Bluffton must be a Bloom of Flowers in the summer. Thanks the volunteer efforts of Stratton Greenhouse, Main Street Bluffton is a flowerbed of all sorts of colorful bloomers this summer. The plants are donated by the Greenhouse and taken care of the the Greenhouse in an effort to beautify the downtown.

Dunking booths are so much fun, and such a good fund raiser, and we are going to have one at the Relay For Life event this year. The thing about dunking booths is you need people to dunk!

Would you be interested in donating some of your time to relax in a dunking booth June 26, at Bluffton University~Ac^a'not^a"cs Salzman Stadium?

You've probably not driven up University Drive near College Hall lately. If you would, this is the site you would see in the parking lot area. A new entrance and elevator is being added to the university's first building this summer.

Here's the up-to-the-minute schedule for this year's first-ever Bluffton Hometown Amerifest. The sponsoring groups are the Bluffton Lions Foundation and its Festival of Wheels, the Bluffton-Pandora Rotary Club and its Freedom Festival, and the Relay for Life Fundraising event.
