ArtSpace/Lima announces two new Soup and Salad Lectures presented by Mary Ann Sullivan, professor emeritus of English and Art History at Bluffton University.
The lectures celebrate two of the most prominent and influential women in British art: photographer Julia Margaret Cameron (Wednesday, Jan. 25) and painter Vanessa Bell (Wednesday, Feb. 1). Both events are at 6 p.m. at ArtSpace Lima, 65-67 Town Square, Lima.
Each evening will feature a light supper and an illustrated talk on the evening’s subject.
Transition Bluffton will host a transition US launch training lead by national transition US leader Tina Clarke.
The two-day event is Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25-26, at the Bluffton Sportsmen's Club, 405 N. Spring St. Interested people can register for the event at www.transitionbluffton.org.
Transition US is a nonprofit organization that provides inspiration, encouragement, support, networking, and training for transition initiatives across the United States.
The first Bluffton Town Hall Series performance of 2017 is Ted Yoder and his hammered dulcimer, according to Wendy Chappell Dick.
He performs in the third floor of the town hall, 154 N. Main St., at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12.

Popular entertainer Ben Vereen will perform to The Freed Center, Biggs Theatre on the Ohio Northern University campus in one performance at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28. Tickets are now on sale in Freed Center box office.
Few entertainers today are as accomplished or as versatile as Vereen. His performances on stage and screen transcend time and have been woven into the fabric of our country’s artistic legacy.
On Broadway, Vereen has appeared in Wicked, Fosse, I’m Not Rappaport, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, Grind, Jelly’s Last Jam and A Christmas Carol.
The ArtSpace/Lima Photography Club will present its Annual Juried Exhibit from Jan. 6 through Feb. 11, in The Ellen Nelson Gallery at ArtSpace/Lima. For the 2017 exhibit, 86 artists from a 100-mile radius around Lima entered 222 photographs, 94 of which were accepted into the show.
Jurors for the exhibit were: Jordan Knepper, executive director of the Piqua Arts Council, and Andi Baumgartner, Assistant Professor of art at Bluffton University.
