Bulffton council's Finance Committee will be meet at 7:15 p.m., Monday, Aug. 13, in the town hall, according to Nancy Kindle, village fiscal officer.

The Icon intern recently talked with Patricia Arendorf, Food Service Coordinator at Maple Crest Senior Living Village, and with Andre Hawks, Food Service Director at Mennonite Memorial Home. We've combined these two interviews into one story.

The Coach- John Harbaugh has had much success as the coach for the Ravens over his first four years. He drafted a talented young QB from the University of Delaware in Joe Flacco, who is entering a contract year and has maintained one of the best defenses in recent memory year in and year out.

There's a Bluffton connection in the Sunday comics.
Check out the newspaper comic strip "Pluggers," in today's Lima News. The message reads: "A plugger's field trip usually involves an actual field."
The cartoon by Gary Brookins gives a "thanks" to Linda Sommer of Bluffton, Ohio, for the idea.

Mabel L. Tabler, 88, died at 1:58 p.m., July 26, 2012, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
She was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Beaverdam to William and Laura Hopkins Bridges. On Oct. 26, 1941, she married Russell Tabler, who died Sept. 15, 1989.
Mrs. Tabler had been a cook at Columbus Grove schools for several years. She attended Columbus Grove Christian Church.
Survivors included two sons: Larry (Marge) Tabler, Columbus Grove, and Jerry (Jo) Tabler, Bluffton, a daughter-in-law Vicky Tabler, Elida, and 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Bluffton Public Library will be hosting a special storytime series for babies and toddlers on Thursdays in August. All four sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and focus on rhymes, stories and songs for children ages 0-3.
Parents must attend each 25 minute session with their children. Older siblings are also welcome to participate. Parents or caregivers should register their child at the library's front desk to reserve their place in the program.

The Bluffton Area Ministerial Association will sponsor its annual summer community worship service on Sunday, July 29. The service begins at 9 a.m. and is held on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn.
The theme is "For the Beauty of the Earth" and the service will continue the VBS theme from the previous week.
This year, there will be only one offering taken, and that will be for the community food pantry.

Arthur Hilty

Arthur L. Hilty, 85, of Bluffton died at 3:25 p.m. July 26, 2012, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born May 31, 1927, to Melvin and Helen Basinger Hilty who preceded him in death. In 1946 he graduated from Bluffton High School. On Oct. 26, 1947 he married Jo Ann Basinger who survives in Bluffton.
He was the fourth generation to live on the family farm where he was a dairy farmer. He also worked at Rusco in Pandora. He was a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton.
