The annual Beaverdam-Richland Fire Department's Summerfest is Saturday, Aug. 11, in downtown Beaverdam.
The event starts at 4 p.m. There will be lots of homemade food, door prizes, live musical entertainment and inflatable rides for kids.
At 9:30 p.m. the grand prizes will be drawn. This year's prizes include:
o One-quarter beef
o Patio furniture
o Kalahari Weekend Getaway
o Swimming pool
o Keurig coffee maker

The Allen County Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), in conjunction with the Lima City Parks & Recreation Division, is sponsoring a Family Fun Day in Faurot Park on Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. - noon, in recognition of World Breastfeeding Week and Breastfeeding Awareness Month.

Although we know lots of people talk about the weather, but no one does anything about it, when we see it rained 1.96 inches over a recent two-day period, we'll take it. No questions.

Bluffton Child Development Center, is accepting fall resigistrations for pre-kindergarten and pre-school youngsters, according to Mary Painter, director.
Classes begin Aug. 27, but persons may enroll their children at anytime. BCDC accepts youth six weeks through 12 years old.
Hours are 6:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Persons willing to donate handcrafted items for this fall's Mennonite Memorial Home Service Group's silent auction may contact Mary Ring for details.
The event is Saturday, Sept. 29 at MMH, Maple Crest and throughout the community.
Persons interested in having a handcrafted item donated to the MMH auction may contact Ring at 419-358-1015, ext. 248.
Items should be delivered to the MMH by Friday, Sept. 21. The items will be on display in the Mennonite Home lobby from Sept. 24 to 29 and bids will be collected during the display. The silent auction ends on Sept. 29.

Krysti's Music Studio, South Main Street, Bluffton, is accepting new students for fall classes, which start the week of Aug. 27.
"We provide lessons in piano, guitar, voice, violin, theory, and composition." said Krysti Schey, studio owner. "We believe that music lessons are an enriching experience for students of all ages, and we are passionate about providing fun, yet quality lessons tailored to each student's individual needs. Included in the lesson program are group lessons and multiple opportunities for performing."
