On Saturday, May 11, letter carriers in Bluffton and Beaverdam will participate in the Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

The nationwide food drive is the largest one day food collection in the country filling food pantries and food banks. It is easy to help and participate. Just collect and bag non perishable food items or paper products and or toiletries and place by your mailbox (early Saturday morning) or bring them to the Bluffton Post Office.

It's getting closer.

Bluffton’s annual family-oriented spring arts and crafts show is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 11, in downtown Bluffton. The 42nd annual show is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Over 70 vendors are already registered for this year's show, which is a larger number than last year, according to Jerry Burkholder, show director.

The cost of a booth is $60 and a registration form is in an attachment and the bottom of this story. A few craft spots are still available, but are going fast.

Time is running out - but if you hurry you can still sponsor a downtown flowerpot.

According to Susie and Steve Stratton of Stratton Greenhouses, "This will be the seventh year for providing the potted plants on Main Street. We appreciate providing this service to the community and are grateful for all the sponsors and contributors. We have received countless comments about how the plants make the downtown more attractive.

Is fourth grade going to be more difficult than third grade?
Brooklyn:
It’s going to be harder.
Neo: Harder tests and harder homework. We’ll have three papers to do.
Justin:  We’ll switch classes.
Kaden: It’s a pain to switch that quick. (Switch classes)

Here's a glass negative contact print taken close to what was called "Gratz Crossing," south of Bluffton taken sometime in the early 1900s. The rails are the Western Ohio Railway. Note the poles and wires. The line was electric. The brick house on the far right of the photo stands today. Its location is on North Dixie Highway where the road turns east to cross Interstate 75.

Earth Day was the perfect day for third and fourth year pharmacy students from Ohio Northern University to present a program at Maple Crest, Bluffton, on the proper use of prescription drugs and the proper disposal of out-of-date medications, which includes the issue of environmental protection.

The students are members of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP), an organization that specifically focuses on “empowering pharmacists to enhance the quality of care for all older persons through the appropriate use of medication and the promotion of healthy aging.”
