Pretty tree. You think you know Bluffton? Where is the tree? One hint: west side of Main Street. The answer is in the photo below.

Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora, an affiliate of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO), recently completed a project involving the replacement of its walk-in cooler and freezer.

The new $35,000 unit was custom made for Hilty Home by US Cooler, Quincy, Ill.  The new unit features a sloped roof versus a flat roof that the prior unit had. This will enable the water to flow off the top as opposed to standing, thus increasing the life of the unit.

Here's a first for Ada - an Ada HS grad on a professional football rookie card. Zac Dysert, who played for Ada HS and Miami (Ohio), has his own NLF "rookie" football card. The front of the card shows Dysert is a passing photo. The flip side reads:

77
Leaf
Draft
Zac Dysert
Position: QB
Height: 6'4"  Weight: 228
Zac Dysert is a strong armed pocket quarterback with some mobility, who given time to throw the ball will help any team at the next level.

As you might imagine, it's a popular card this spring in Ada.

Wouldn't it be neat to have a 25-minute movie showing Bluffton in 1936?

The Columbus Grove High School Alumni Association has preserved two reel-to-reel films that depict the Columbus Grove community and school system as they were in 1936.

The silent films were re-discovered by Laura Clevenger in the library a few years ago and, thanks to her, were saved and moved into the new building.

St. John's United Church of Christ will hold a beef and noodle dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 26, at the church, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton.

The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for college students, $4 for elementary students and is free to all pre-kindergarten youth.

Bluffton's Junior Girl Scout troop is hosting an Earth Day celebration at Buckeye Park Saturday, April 27, from 2-4 p.m.

A bike decorating contest with cash prizes, a bike parade, and park cleanup and planting are planned. Admission fee is a donation of an item that will help homeless pets.

This project of Troop 20643 will help the girls fulfill the requirements of the Bronze Award, the highest award that can be earned by Junior Girl Scouts. The entire community is invited.

Julian Harnish is living in a pretty exciting week.

At this moment he is on his way to China with his family. The Bluffton family will be there until mid-June while Julian’s father, Stephen, is on a Bluffton University sabbatical.

That’s not the only exciting thing that happened to the BHS junior in the past five days. On April 20, he finished in second place in the high school piano division of the 2013 Young Artists’ Competition sponsored by the Friends of the (Lima) Symphony.
