The lights are bright. You and friends are surrounded by others with the same enthusiasm for rock music. When the music begins to pulsate in the room the entire consciousness of the crowd becomes homogeneous through this single interest and common understanding in the music.

Andy Lamb of Bluffton recently joined the Peace Corp and is serving in Dominican Republic. He sent the Icon his blog link to share with viewers.

On Friday June 21, 2013, the American Cancer Society will be holding its annual
Relay For Life of Bluffton. Since 1985, Relay For Life has grown from one man
- Dr. Gordy Klatt, who walked, jogged and ran around a track for 24 hours raising
money for his local American Cancer Society unit - to a movement to eliminate
cancer that now takes place in more than 5,200 communities in the United States
and in 20 other countries around the world.

Citizens National Bank was recently named one of the top 100 community banks in the nation for companies with between $500 million and $5 billion in assets by SNL Financial. 

SNL Financial is an independent business intelligence firm that specializes in financial services data. Ranked 55th on the list, Citizens National Bank was the only bank based out of Ohio to be included.

SNL ranked the best-performing community banks using six core financial performance metrics that focus on profitability, asset quality and growth for the 12-month period ended Dec. 31, 2012.

Jeanne's Kitchen, Vine Street, Bluffton, has expanded its evening hours to Saturdays, starting April 6, according to Jeanne Previte, owner.

The Saturday evening menu, served from 5 to 7:30 p.m., will be a traditional Italian cuisine. Customers may order from the menu. No reservations are needed.

In addition, Previte announced the themes for the next four Friday evening menus. Each Friday evening menu will have an international theme. Friday dinner hours are also 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Workers are taking the First Mennonite Church to the showers this week. A power wash to clean bricks and check for loose mortar with an eventual replacement of the steeple roof is underway.

All Bluffton school doors, as of March 27, are now locked while school is in session. Visitors are required to "buzz in" to gain entrance into the specific building.

Each building office has a camera and video screen showing the "buzz-in" entrance of its building. The photo with this story shows the middle school entrance.
