The Croods (PG), an animated comedy, will be showing every evening at 7 p.m. in additions to matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Following the open session of Bluffton council on Monday, the council entered executive session to discuss contracts and pending litigation.

Following the executive session, council returned to open session. There is accepted the bid for refuse and recycling submitted by Republic Services for a new three-year contract, commencing June 1, 2013.

"There will be more information forthcoming on the contract and any changes that residents may expect," Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, told The Icon.

Bluffton's annual spring clean-up is May 17 to May 27, according to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator. Dumpsters will be located at the Spring Street recyling center.

"The dumpsters will be delivered on Friday, May 17 and will be removed on Tuesday, May 28," he told The Icon.

The dumpsters will be switched out as necessary during that time period. As always, items that may not be disposed of in the dumpsters include hazardous materials (motor oil, paint, etc.), vehicle batteries, and tires.

The 2013 Bluffton Community Swimming Pool season isn't here yet, but Bluffton council approved the pool employees on Monday. 

In additional swimming pool discussion, Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, informed council that Bob Neff is finalizing the recommendations and alternates for the work to be performed on the pool slide. Once all of the specifications are finalized the village will seek estimates from qualified contractors to have the work completed.

The Internal Revenue Service today reminded taxpayers that quick and easy solutions are available if they can’t file their returns or pay their taxes on time, and they can even request relief online.

Either way, taxpayers will avoid stiff penalties if they file either a regular income tax return or a request for a tax-filing extension by this year’s April 15 deadline.

Taxpayers should file, even if they can’t pay the full amount due. Here are further details on the options available.

The Bluffton University softball team moved to 15-11 overall and 7-1 in the Heartland Conference with a crucial sweep of the Lions at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The Beavers moved to 15-11 and 7-1 in the HCAC, taking over first place in the conference thanks to a Franklin sweep of previously undefeated Manchester University.

The Bluffton University Track and Field program traveled to the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University to compete in the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday, April 6. The meet was comprised of several Division II and Division III schools from around the area. The Beavers ended the day with several qualifying standards as well as personal bests.

The Bluffton Elementary School honor roll has been released.  You can find the attachement at the bottom of this article.
