Bluffton High School's volleyball team moved to 5-3 in the Northwest Conference as they defeated Delphos Jefferson 3-0 on Oct. 7.

Michael Wilson, transportation supervisor for Shawnee schools, accepted a contract as maintenance supervisor for Bluffton schools on Oct. 4.

He replaces Bob Holt who retires on Dec. 31. Wilson will begin his Bluffton duties on Nov. 3 during a transitition period. He accepted a two-year contract ending June 30, 2016, at an annual salary of $58,000.

The time has finally come - early voting starts today. You can now cast your ballot in the 2014 General Election.

Alice J. Kohli, 81, of Mt. Cory, died at 4:19 a.m., October 7, 2014 at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.  She was born December 20, 1932 in Ada to the late Eugene and Mozelle Bullock Thompson.  On April 28, 1950 she married Harold B. Kohli and he preceded her in death on October  11, 2004.

Trick or Treaters are invited to visit the Mennonite Memorial Home from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30. MMH is located at 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

The Pandora United Methodist Church will hold a free community meal from 5:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29th in the fellowship hall of the church, at108 E. Washington Street, Pandora. The meal this month is provided by the mission committee. The menu will include lasGna, bread sticks, salad, dessert, and beverage.

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs will sponsor the Friday, Oct. 10, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast program.

The free chamber breakfast is at 7 a.m. with the chamber meeting from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.

The program serves as the launch of BCE’s fifth annual Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition. It also will provide chamber members with a progress report of BCE activities over the past year.

Bluffton University presented alumni awards on Oct. 4 to two distinguished graduates who said Bluffton has given them much more as well.

Lifetime Service Award

William Herr, a 1961 alumnus, received the Lifetime Service Award at the President’s Banquet on Homecoming Saturday, while Bethny (Ricks ’06) Brown accepted the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

County Line Church of the Brethren, 4227 N. Hardin Road, Harrod, will hold a dedication and homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 12, according to Tom Dearth, senior pastor.

The day includes a 10:30 a.m. combination morning service and dedication service for the congregation’s new Multi-purpose Building.

Immediately following is a carry-in dinner held in the Multi-purpose Building. Meat, drinks and table service will be provided.

The events of the day are open to the public.

Neva Adams, a senior, is the September student of the month at Bluffton High School. She is the daughter of Frank Adams and Dana Neely of Bluffton.

Adams is a member of the BHS band, co-editor of the yearbook, and carries a GPA of 3.948. She is enrolled in the post secondary program at Bluffton University, and after graduation, would  like to attend the University of Iowa and study English and elementary education.
