First National Bank and First National Financial Services will conduct a Social Security Workshop Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Findlay Inn and Suites, 200 E. Main Cross Street, Findlay.

The workshop features Matt Simpson from BlackRock, who will provide general education about Social Security benefits, strategies on how to receive Social Security benefits and will walk through individual options. The workshop is free, includes dinner, and is open to the public.

 Velda "Pat" Patricia (Biederman) Lehman, died July 22, 2015,  at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville, Ky.  She was born July 8, 1933, in Allen County to the late Thomas Edward and Velda Mary (Daughtery) Biederman. She married Keith Evan Lehman and he preceded her in death.

She was a resident of Pandora and more recently of LaGrange, Ky.

Betty Cecilia (Reichenbach) Steiner, 94, died at 7:15 a.m. July 23, 2015, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.

She was born March 10, 1921, in Bluffton, to David and Lucille (Welty) Reichenbach, who preceded her in death. On April 21, 1957, she married Evan W. Steiner, who preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1985.

Friday - free ice cream

Tommy Tire Sales, 319 N. Main St., will have its second annual free ice cream from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Friday, according to Tom Dotson."Jay Lugibihl will bring his homemade ice cream maker again and also this year we will be doing a bonus for the kids with free pony rides from noon to 5 p.m.," said Dotson.

Saturday ALS bake sale

Bluffton Family Recreation announces two August tournaments and sign-up for an August basketball league, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

Overnight softball tournament
BFR will host an overnight softball tournament held in Cairo on Friday, Aug. 14. Games start at 7 p.m. Cost per team is $200 and the registration deadline is Saturday, Aug. 1. Players must be 18 or older by June 30. At the registration, teams must provide payment and a team roster.

There will be a bake sale to benefit the ALS Association on Saturday, July 25, from 8 a.m.-noon in front of the Citizens National Bank. The Bluffton team "Fast Talker Kingsley" will be raising money for the ALS walk in Columbus on September 27. The team will walk and raise donations in honor of Phillip Kingsley. Bluffton Area Ministerial Associations (BAMA) will hold its annual community worship service at 9 a.m., Sunday, July 26, on the Bluffton Presbyterian lawn.

Rev. David Good, pastor of Bluffton Presbyterian, said, "The service will focus on the Vacation Bible School, which has been this week. The Theme is “Bible Blast to the Past,” and will feature songs by the children who participated in VBS."

As the Bluffton Senior Center’s front window display commemorates its 45th anniversary, its former Golden Swinger Band takes center stage this month in the Center's window.

The band was started by Vera Core in 1979. She was director of the Senior Center at the time and thought a band would be a fun activity for the members.

The family of Elaine Rich will hold a reception in her honor from 7-8 p.m. Saturday, July 25, in the fellowship hall of First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson St. All are invited to attend! No gifts, please, but cards are welcome.

A longtime resident of Bluffton, Elaine recently moved to Manchester, Ind., to be closer to family members.
