Tom Downey, P.E., of Bluffton, was presented with his Professional Engineering License at a statehouse ceremony hosted by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors and the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE).

Downey, a graduate of Bluffton High School, earned both his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology and his master of science in engineering from the University of Toledo. He is employed as an engineer at Hawthorn Seving, Inc.

Bluffton High School’s baseball team defeated Upper Scioto Valley 15-3 in Bluffton earlier this week.

Brice Rayle was the winning pitcher. Braden Edwards collected a single and 2 RBIs, Colin Phillips hit 1 single and 1 home run, Matt Bowden had 2 singles and Dakota Bricker 1 double.

Bluffton is 1-1 overall.

Nancy Steinecker, an Allen County Master Gardener volunteer, will present a program on propagation from plant cuttings.

The program is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, in the lower level of the Bluffton Public Library. The program is sponsored by the Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area and is open to the public.

A paint and partake party is planned from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at Bluffton Baptist Church, 325 County Line Road.

The event has snacks and is a fundraiser to help a student raise money for a student's class trip. The cost is $30 each participant. It is open to all age groups. RSVP to [email protected]

 

 

The Pandora United Methodist Church Choir will present an Easter cantata, “Behold the Lamb!” on Sunday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m. during the worship service.

The church service and refreshments in the fellowship hall afterwards are open to the public. The choir is directed by Pat Basinger. The church is located on State Route 12,108 E. Washington St., Pandora. The Rev. Duane Kemerley is the pastor.

 

April 4 in Founders Hall

Bluffton University’s upcoming Spiritual Life Week will feature Ted & Company’s performance of “Laughter is Sacred Space” at 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken.

Led by veteran actor Ted Swartz, Ted & Company TheaterWorks uses humor and professional storytelling to talk about issues of faith and social justice through live shows and other forms of media.

Library invites you to create your art masterpiece

Art is where you find it - or where you make it.

And, the Bluffton Public Library invites you to make "and take" your own art anytime on Friday, March 31. It's the final opportunity in the "Make and Take Art" option during the month.

Here's how it works:
The library has stations set up throughout the main floor for budding artists to create a piece of art. The stations are available all day and are open to patrons of all ages.

When you complete your work, you may take it home a frame it.
