Tessa Short, business administrtion and marketing double major

In a 1998 edition of the Bluffton alumni magazine, then known as “Scope,” an image of a grinning little girl standing confidently in Bluffton apparel can be found. Tessa Short, 18 months at the time of the photo, returned to campus 18 years later to continue a fourth generation legacy.

 “I think it’s really cool to have so many family members go here,” she said. “I think it is a special bond.”

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University’s D'Nae Reese (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Invite on Saturday, March 25.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A 5-1 mark for the week propelled the Bluffton University softball team to a Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week award for junior Nicole Thomas (Tontogany/Otsego) who secured her second career HCAC Player of the Week honor.

Thomas went 2-1 with a 0.66 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched. She struck out four and allowed just one earned run with a complete game shutout of Albion on Saturday

The junior was recognized as HCAC Pitcher of the Week following a similar 0.64 ERA for her week in Florida last season.

Musical participants awarded many superiors and excellents

Several Bluffton junior high music students participated in Solo and Ensemble Contest sponsored by OMEA.  The students are under the direction of David Sycks – band, Kara Zink – choir and Rachael E. Lewis – orchestra.The event was held at Elida High School on Saturday. Results follow:

David D. Suter was born in Riley Township in 1854 and died in May 1923. Harvey Suter (top row, left, was born in June, 1893 and died in 1966.)

Fifty education students attended a Bluffton Education Organization (BEO) meeting on March 21 where they experienced an energizing meeting hearing from 10 education graduates who shared their experiences from year one.

Words such as emotional, difficult but well-worth it, dedicated, extra-time, fun,
shocking, creative, teamwork, wonderful principals, fabulous co-teachers, well-
prepared, and other connections to their initial teaching year were shared.

Also a proposal to help in a Sportsmen's Club purchase

Monday’s Bluffton council meeting includes topics ranging from:
• Shannon Cemetery,
• Maple Grove Cemetery,
• a proposal to provide funding to the Sportsmen’s Club to purchase tables and other items,
• plus an update on the west side sewer interceptor.

In addition, council will hear a report and will take action involving a proposed change in the Parkview subdivision, currently being developed. Bluffton Planning Commission met March 15. The meeting was to consider the proposal requested by the subdivision developer.
