It may affect certain areas of Ohio, but not Blanchard Valley Health System

Blanchard Valley Hospital, Bluffton Hospital and EasternWoods Outpatient Diagnostic Center will not be affected by the recent Anthem announcement to limit health insurance coverage of high end radiology services in the hospital outpatient setting.

High end radiology services include computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

This recent announcement may affect certain areas of Ohio, but will not affect Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) or its facilities.

Bluffton Lions Ed Yeager (pictured), Tom Edwards, Elaine Harris, Arliss Plaugher and Barbara Plaugher along with Don Hostetler’s wife, Joyce, helped to examine children at the beginning of the school year in several area schools.

Students examined were at Bluffton Elementary, Allen East Elementary, Hilty Home Day Care, Bluffton Pre-School and the County Line Day Care facility in Bluffton.

A total of 230 children were screened with 17 children failing the screening test. Failed screens are referred to parents for follow-up with their local eye doctor.

ODOT will open Bentley Road overpass later today

The wait is over.

By the end of the working day today (Friday, Oct. 20) the Bentley Road Interstate 75 overpass will be open to traffic, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The southbound entrance ramp (to Lima) onto I-75 may be delayed until power for a traffic signal at the ramp is open. At 8:30 a.m. this morning the status of the signal was not yet resolved.

The overpass, which includes a bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad and Interstate 75 was closed on June 5 for repair.

Two nights, three days at Camp Berry

They didn’t do this when we were in school! Wish they did.

Earlier this month and for the fourth year, all Bluffton seventh graders participated in an Outdoor Camp learning experience at Camp Berry Boy Scout Camp in rural Findlay.

Three events related to the “Mirror of the Martyrs” exhibit at Bluffton University will provide greater understanding of the role of Anabaptist martyrs in history and in contemporary life.

Carrie Phillips, archives and special collections librarian at Bluffton University, will share “A History Dramatic and Useful: The 1748 Ephrata ‘Martyrs Mirror.’”

Tuesday's council candidate forum offers opportunity for candidates to share views

Why you should vote for me.

Bluffton voters have an opportunity to hear Bluffton council candidates offer their views on village issues in a candidate forum next week.

The forum is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, Allen and Hardin for Election Action and Democracy (AHEAD), and the Bluffton Icon sponsor the forum.

Citizens National Bank will hold a series of 2018 economic forecast presentations in October and November.

Robert J. Morgan, senior consultant with Austin Associates, will make the presentations that are free and open to the public.

He will discuss current market conditions and what he expects to see  regarding  unemployment, housing and the challenges facing business owners in the upcoming year.
