Riley Creek United Methodist Church will hold a service of hymn singing and songs at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, accortding to Duane Kemerley, pastor.
The church is located southeast of Ottawa and northwest of Pandora at the intersection of Putnam County Roads M and 7-L (7102 County Road M, Ottawa OH 45875), across from Putnam Stone Company.
Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera, will hold a mission festival on Sunday, Oct. 22. Pastor Glenn Hieb, a missionary who served in Japan for 20 years, will deliver the sermon in both the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. Between services, at 9:20 a.m., Pastor Hieb will have a presentation on world missions.
Dr. Andrea Motto ‘97, manager of public and youth engagement at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, explained that growing up in a working class immigrant community and continuing her education at Bluffton helped guide her to be a social justice warrior during her Oct. 10 Forum presentation, “Privilege, Resilience and Equity in Science Education," at Bluffton University.

Bluffton High School’s post-prom committee will hold a designer purse raffle on Saturday, Nov. 4, in the middle school cafetorium. Tickets are still available.
Registration with sandwiches, dips and desserts starts at 5:30 p.m. The reverse raffle is at 7 p.m.
The evening will have games, gift baskets, a 50/50 drawing and other prizes.
Tickets are $35, which includes food. Tickets are available at Bluffton High School and middle school offices. Tickets are also available from Erinn Prater, Teri Steinmetz and at Greg’s Pharmacy.
Bluffton University will present “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller this fall.
Dr. Melissa Friesen, a professor and chair of art, communication and theatre at Bluffton, will direct the show, being staged at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 2-4 and 2:30 p.m., Nov. 5 in Ramseyer Auditorium in College Hall.
The Bluffton Police Department recently met the requirement to receive Provisional Certification through the Ohio Collaborative Law Enforcement Certification program, according to Ryan Burkholder, Bluffton police chief.
This achievement means that the Bluffton police department has adopted and implemented state standards established by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board as part of the state’s efforts to strengthen community and police relations.
