Sally J. Dunahay, 78, died June 4, 2018, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.  Sally was born Oct. 16, 1939 in Beaverdam to the late Roy and Georgine (Bishop) Eckenwiler.  On Feb. 21, 1965 she married Leonard Dunahay who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2013.

Sally was a graduate of Beaverdam High School and was a homemaker.  She enjoyed working outdoors in her yard and collecting pigs. 

Bluffton recreational soccer registration is now open for the fall season. Registration is $50 (plus a credit card transaction fee or E-check processing fee). Registrations are due by June 23.

Pandora will be a garage sale shopper paradise Thursday through Saturday, June 7-9.

Nearly 30 community garage sales take place during the long weekend. A list of the garage sales are attached at the bottom of this story.

 

 

 

 

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, will add a mid-week service during the summer. 

The casual Tuesday evening services will begin on June 5 and continue every Tuesday through Labor Day week.  They will begin at 7:30 p.m. and be a shortened version of the previous Sunday’s service.

Free admission for the first 200 people at Bluffton pool

Riley Creek Arbor is sponsoring free pool admission for the first 200 people at the Bluffton Community Pool from noon – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16.

Riley Creek Arbor of Gleaner Life Insurance Society regularly supports the local community through monetary and volunteer efforts.  The Arbor consists of members from Bluffton, Lima, and surrounding communities.

The Inn at ONU has a summer of entertainment planned ranging from live music to a night of comedy and a family-friendly pirate and mermaid party. Here are the details:

Saturday, June 9, 5 p.m.
In celebration of National Rose’ Day, the Inn presents an Italian food and wine pairing. The evening includes live music in the garden courtyard with samplings of flatbreads from the grill, rose’ wines and Italian food.

Tickets are $50 per person, including tax and gratuities. Calling the Inn at 419-7872-4112 requires advance tickets.

Two Area Agency on Aging 3 programs also on the calendar

Several programs of interest to members are on the June calendar of the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St., according to Tonya Meyers, director.

• June 6 – Miranda Ridenow of Area Agency on Aging 3, will talk about retired senior volunteer programs. Her presentation is at 2:30 p.m.

June 8 – The first movie of the summer is “Florence Foster Jenkins, at 1 p.m.

Independence House will host their annual classic car show Friday, June 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Independence House parking lot, 1000 Independence Road, Fostoria.

Classic cars will be displayed and the event will include food and refreshments. The show is free and open to the public. In the case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for June 15.

Those wishing to bring their classic cars for display should call 419.435.8505 to register or register the day of the event.

The 29th Annual Julie Cole Charity Golf Classic will take place on Monday, June 11, at the Findlay Country Club. Michael Reid, Pat McGowan and Findlay native, Julie Cole, will be the guest professionals.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with registration and breakfast, followed by a professionals' clinic on the range at 9 a.m. The golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with the awards ceremony to follow. Spectators may purchase an all-day pass for $10 to watch the tournament and have lunch.
