Yes - at County Line Church on Feb. 29

County Line Church is hosting a "Leap into Spring" garage sale in their barn, at 4227 N Hardin Rd. (County Line Rd.), on Saturday, Feb. 29, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Local vendors will be selling second-hand items, including vintage, antiques, household items, clothes, etc, plus handmade crafts, homemade foods and products from home-based businesses in the church’s multi-purpose building. 

The youth group will be selling snacks. 

Alisha White, a contestant from Illinois, is the winner of the Icon's Oscars Contest. She had 7 out of 8 answers correct. 

The award for Best Picture went to Parasite. This is the first time that an international film has been awarded Best Picture. Parasite also was awarded Best Original Screenplay and Best International Film (this category was not covered in the Icon contest). The director of Parasite, Bong Joon Ho, was awarded Best Director.

Vintage Chevrolet Club of America forming a local chapter

Anyone who know Dan Groman easily associates him with a beautiful 1954 Chevrolet 210. It's a Bluffton original - originally owned by Mrs. C. Henry Smith and later by Zoe Hauenstein.

Groman informs the Icon that The Vintage Chevrolet Club of America is forming a local Region in the Lima area to allow area VCCA members from northwestern Ohio to meet with others that enjoy Chevrolets of all eras.

Greatest risk remains for people who have recently traveled to China

To date there have been 15 confirmed cases in the United States, and no confirmed cases in Ohio. 

The novel virus causing the expanding outbreak of respiratory illness centered in China has been officially named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization.  

While there are 15 confirmed cases in the US, the virus is not spreading in the community and the vast majority of people in the United States have a low risk of exposure to the virus.

Open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; ribbon cutting in AM

Edward Jones financial advisor Ryan DeMarco invites the public to visit his new office at 111 N Main St. in Bluffton.

The 9 a.m.-4 p.m. open house on Friday, Feb. 14, includes a ribbon cutting at 9-9:30 a.m. with members of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mother Nature reminds us of the season

"The wonder of a single snowflake outweighs the wisdom of a million meterologists."

Or, so says an unknown philosopher.

Bluffton awoke to one of the rare true snowfalls of the season this morning. It first delayed and then closed area schools.

It brought out the shovels, the snow plows, the window scrapers and the boots. It made a pot of coffee seem heavenly.

Bluffton schools join a host of area schools closing its doors today (Thursday, Feb. 13) due to wintery weather conditions.

Greg Denecker, superintendent, made the closing announcement on Ohio Alerts at 7:45 a.m.

Riley Creek United Methodist Church invites the all ages to a "Soup, Sandwich & Game Night" on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. From 6 to 7 p.m. there will be several soup flavors to choose from and a hearty sandwich to fill in the gaps. Family-friendly games will be played until 9 p.m. Bring a favorite board game to play or join in a round or two of the many that will be on hand. 

The evening's events will take place in the church's newly completed building addition.  The addition includes restrooms, a kitchenette and a fellowship hall.
