Bluffton University will celebrate 75 years of offering a social work program to students later this month.
A university Forum will focus on the social work program at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, in Yoder Recital Hall.
During the presentation, alumni and faculty from the program will present stories from the earliest graduates, those who came back to teach in the program and others who used their degrees in creative ways.

Tickets are now on sale for a Bluffton Family Recreation repeat performance of Dueling for Dumbbells, which takes place Friday, April 3, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton.
The evening is a casual night of live entertainment involving dueling pianos, featuring an open bar, with proceeds going to the BFR, starting at 6 p.m., according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.
Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Dueling pianos starts at 7 p.m.
Two public hearings are slated on Monday, March 9, during that evening’s Bluffton council meeting, according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator.
• At 7:15 p.m. is a hearing to review engineered plans approved by the Planning Commission for future construction on Phase 2 of the Parkview Subdivision from 3S Development.

ELIDA - Lima Central Catholic ran out to a big halftime lead and defeated Bluffton 60-44 in Div. IV boys basketball sectional final action at Elida Friday night.
The Pirates fell behind 15-4 after the first period and never caught up. The fifth-seeded Thunderbirds extended their margin to a commanding 35-16 at halftime with a 20-point second stanza.
Second seed Bluffton inched within 47-36 behind a strong third period as senior Mason Soper scored eight points.
PUNTA GORDA, Fla.– The Bluffton University baseball team faced off against Misericordia University on Tuesday, Mar. 3, 2020. The Beavers swept the Cougars to pick up their first two wins on the season. Bluffton improved to 2-4 following the victories.
The Beavers got on the board first when a Parker Reynolds (Avon) single scored Reid Ruhl (Hamilton) for an early 1-0 lead. Misericordia would score in the bottom of the second to tie it up 1-1.

We all rely on technology: we’re more likely to leave the house without our wallet than our cell phone. We take it for granted that we can, at a glance, know the exact time, the weather, traffic, or who’s texted, emailed, phoned or posted on Facebook, and so on, simply by glancing at our smart phone.
Senior Justin Kauffman (Smithville) cleared 4.40 meters in the pole vault at the Fred Wilt Invitational, taking top honors on Saturday, Feb. 29. For his efforts, Kauffman was named the Heartland Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Bluffton will compete at Ohio Northern for the Polar Bear Final Qualifier on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, as a handful of Beavers are working to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Nationals at Winston-Salem, NC, starting Friday, March 13.
Parents don't need reminded that Bluffton schools cancelled three out of four Thursdays in February. That makes a current total of five calamity days thus far for this school year.
One more cancellation and Bluffton schools will have a make-up day on Thursday, April 9. Further cancellations will tack on additional school days at the end of May, according to Teresa Marquart, Bluffton Elementary school secretary.
February skies dumped a total of 11.2 inches of snow throughout the month, with 4.2 inches falling in one day, on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
