Thanks to a fluke vehicle breakdown on I-75 last summer, a rising star on the national country music scene will soon release an album featuring one song about Bluffton.
That rising star is Sal Walker and his band April Shortbread.
Late Sunday evening last July 21, Derek Dukes stopped to help a group traveling in a Tuscany Thor Motor Coach stalled on the southbound exit 140 ramp.
Assessing the situation, Dukes drove to the Beaverdam travel center. There he explained the breakdown problem to a mechanic who returned with Dukes and repaired the stranded vehicle.
Bluffton friends:
The bike paths are not wide enough for 2 couples to walk past each other 6 ft apart.
Three people walking side by side while pushing a baby carriage is not 6 ft of physical distancing.
Walkers, joggers, bikers in single file, with 6 ft of separation from the person in front and behind you would allow users of the bike paths to pass each other.
Some communities/cities have closed bike paths because physical distancing is not being maintained. Discuss among yourselves.
Turns out that Bluffton University mascots J. Denny Beaver and Jenny Beaver like to draw.

There are two reasons to wear a mask:
• to protect *yourself* against what's out there, so you can personally try to avoid infection, and
• to protect *others* from what *you* may have so that you don't infect the community.
The second reason is what some doctors and epidemiologists are emphasizing as an important tool for fighting COVID-19. They are not recommending you keep N95 masks.

Wow, what a difference a month makes. Much of what the BCE had planned for March went by the wayside. With non-essential business being conducted from home, we’re all learning to adjust.
I’ll be leading my first Zoom video meeting this week and have taken to paying with my smart phone when I can. This old girl is learning new tricks!

Ryan Burkholder, Bluffton police chief, experiences all types of situations in his job with the police department. Here’s a recent note the Icon received from him – it’s good news story:
In the last few weeks, we have been challenged in many different aspects of life such as our normal routines, our jobs, and our beliefs.
I would like to share with you some recent moments of generosity, honesty, and unselfishness.
