March 2020

Thanks for efforts of local groups working to set it up

Thanks to the efforts of Bluffton emergency services, village staff, and a local ad-hoc group working behind the scenes with Bluffton Hospital, Bluffton will have a COVID-19 triage and testing center.

It will open Monday morning, March 23.

Dr. William Kose, Blanchard Valley Health System medical officer, explained details to the Icon:

• A “triage and testing center,” established by Blanchard Valley Health System, will operate in a tented area outside Bluffton Hospital.

To coincide with the federal deadline

To coincide with the federal deadline, the Village of Bluffton will change its tax day from April 15 to July 15, 2020, according to Rhonda Hohenbrink, village tax administrator.

"All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file their 2019 village income tax return and make payments without interest or penalties," she said.

This change in the deadline date only applies to this tax year. Persons with questions, contact the Village of Bluffton Income Tax Department at
419-358-2066, ext. 105.

Note from Ohio State Extension Service
The deadline to enter into a contract with the H2Ohio program for farmers in the 14-county, Maumee River watershed is being extended.

The original deadline was March 31 but due to COVID-19, more farmers and Soil and Water Conservation District personnel are conducting information exchanges through phone calls and e-mails.

The H2Ohio deadline is expected to be extended to June 2, tentatively. Contact your local Soil and Water Conservation District for more details.

Hilty Preschool and Childcare youngsters create rainbows for Hilty Home residents

LOTS OF PHOTOS AT BOTTOM OF STORY -
There are patio painters in Pandora.

Hilty Preschool and Childcare youngsters of Pandora visited Hilty Home assisted living residents’ outdoor patios, decorating them with some sidewalk chalk art earlier this week.

One of the staff members assisting in the visit was Jodi Schroeder.

As you can see, despite the personal “touch,” the event was personal and touching.

Schroeder said that the youth decided to make rainbows.

Bluffton council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in brief session

Bluffton's Monday, March 23, council meeting will be a first for the village.

It is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (a change from 7 p.m.) and will take place in the police garage behind the town hall, according to Kevin Nickel, village fiscal officer.

"The intention is for this to be a very short, stand up meeting, for the purposes of approving the bills to be paid," he told the Icon.

"It is unlikely that there will be any other action unless some is needed related to COVID-19 or other emergency action to keep government functioning."
