Hello, my name is Matt Burkholder. I am the owner of Burkholder Healthy Farms in Allen County. I have partnered with The Nature Conservancy in an effort to be an advocate to farmers in the Maumee River watershed. I planted my first cover crop of annual rye grass in the fall of 2009. I have been diligently learning about Regenerative Agricultural practices ever since. It is my goal to begin meeting with neighboring farmers and landowners who are interested in learning more about these practices.
Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) was recently named on a list of the “Best 50” healthcare supply chains in North America by Global Health Exchange (GHX).
To create the list, GHX, a healthcare business and data automation company, analyzed the performance of more than 4,100 hospitals in the U.S. and Canada that are part of its digital trading network. The list scored several areas, including maximizing automation and increasing exchange utilization and trading partner connections.
The Bluffton University baseball team led 6-0 after three innings, but Otterbein came all the way back for a 16-12 victory at Memorial Field on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Bluffton saw its four-game winning streak snapped as the Beavers fell to 5-7 on the season. Otterbein improved to 10-5 overall.

The idiom “waste not, want not” can be interpreted as if you use something wisely or completely, then you will be less likely to find yourself in need of anything. There are many theories as to the origin of this phrase, but some believe it has been around since the late 1700s. I was accustomed to hearing this idiom from my parents and grandparents. My parents were born during the depression and my grandparents lived through these hard times. My maternal grandma truly wasted nothing and she taught me how to get the most out of just about everything. So, you might wonder why I am writing about waste and want? Well, I learned something new about SARS-CoV-2 this week that has me intrigued.
With a high temperature of 73 and a low of 14, the first three weeks of March weather, as observed by Guy Verhoff in Pandora, show how variable the season can be.

The Bluffton Elementary PTO is hosting a Science Night event with hands-on STEM activities for families of K-5th grade students from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at the Bluffton elementary and middle schools, 102 S. Jackson St.
The parent-teacher organization held the first such event in February 2020, with participation by some 300 students and their families.

Over the past few weeks we have had several individuals report being the victims of scams that are being done via telephone calls. Most of these scams are targeting the elderly population. If you receive a phone call or email from a company (even reputable one's such as Publishers Clearinghouse) and they ask for money to claim a prize, or ask to send you a check and have you cash it and send money or gift cards back to them, HANG UP IMMEDIATELY. No legit company will ask you to send money to claim a prize, or send you a check and have you send something back to claim a prize. If ANYONE asks you to purchase gift cards and send them somewhere IT IS A SCAM!
