The Bluffton High School student of the month for February 2021 is Eli Okuley, son of Bruce & Carole Okuley of Bluffton. Eli is a senior and has a 4.000 GPA. 

Okuley is a member of the Bluffton Marching, Jazz, Pep, and Concert bands. He is involved in many activities including the Allen County Junior Fair Board, Bunny Booster 4-H Club, The ARBA, The OSDRC and is a Buckeye Boys State alumni. 

Easter for Kids

Trinity Lutheran School, 105 Allen Street, Jenera, is hosting Easter for Kids on Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The free program is open to children ages 3 years-5th grade.

As director of Musselman Library, Carrie Phillips ’99 believes even the “rarest collections are meant to be studied.”

However, the oldest Bible in Bluffton University’s Musselman Library, dating to the 16th century, was nearly relegated to restricted status in the archives to prevent further wear, tear and damage.

Instead, Phillips applied for and was awarded nearly $5,000 for an Ohio LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) Preservation Grant for a conservation treatment of Bluffton’s 1531 Froschauer Bible.

AAA3 is conducting a community needs assessment to help capture the service needs in Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer, Putnam, and Van Wert Counties.

This information will assist in the development of Area Agency on Aging 3’s 2023-2026 Strategic Area Plan. Information gathered from this survey will assist in the planning and implementation of services, supports and resources in our local community.

New and returning vendors are invited to a Bluffton Farmers Market organizational meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5 at Bluffton Town Hall, 3rd floor. Market manager Greg Probst ([email protected]) will review guidelines and the registration process.

The market is held May-October in the Citizens National Bank parking lot, 102 S. Main. The Bluffton Farmers Market is a program of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Bluffton Clean Up Facebook page reported a fantastic response to the invitation to pick up litter near the Buckeye Park in Bluffton. An April Clean Up invitation follows.

"Wow, what a turnout! The rain didn’t stop us.

"Thank you SO much to Girl Scout Troop #2011 and to the rest of these fine volunteers. We even had four citizens of Findlay come lend a hand. We were able to get three different areas in town thanks to the number of people that showed up. So if you see any of these faces today, tell them thanks for helping keep the community free of litter.

On Saturday, March 19, two Bluffton High School students competed in the 2022 McDonald's Bill McClain Ohio High School State Powerlifting Meet, Division V, VI, and VII at Kenton High School.

Junior Rylee Setzer placed 3rd in the girls 155 lb. weight class. Her total weight lifted was 615 lbs.; squat 235 lbs.; bench 100 lbs.; deadlift 280 lbs. Setzer is a junior from Bluffton who attends Apollo in Health Science.

Freshman Avery Lamb placed 10th in the girls 145 lb. weight class.
