The cat not in the hat...it made the children laugh and play to see a "cat" in school

Here's an unusual and final look at the Icon's photos taken on the first day of school.

A small cat appeared at the elementary school front doors just as students entered prior to 8 a.m. It was noticed by several students, including the young boy in the doorway.

We're not certain, but we have a feeling that sooner or later during the day, the cat somehow achieved its goal of entering the building.

But, that's simply a guess.

McDonald’s invites community to participate in ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Social media’s latest social and philanthropic phenomenon has made its way to Bluffton, right into the doors of the Bluffton McDonald’s.

What has started as a simple challenge to the Lewis family has turned into a company- and community-wide event. Participants of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge include McDonald’s owner/operator, Jerry Lewis, director of operations, Scott Shaw, general manager, Luke Franz, company supervisors, managers, and crew, and members of the Bluffton community.

Sept. 2 tree walk allows you to learn about campus trees

On Tuesday, September 2, gardeners of the Bluffton-Pandora area will meet for a tree walk presented by Joanne Antibus. Join the Club at 6:30 p.m. in front of Bluffton University's Marbeck Center to discover the campus's variety of trees and learn of their attributes and benefits.

The public is invited to attend: parking is available off Elm Street at the university gymnasium.

Naked Truth Event, women's conference, early bird tickets on sale

Naked Truth Event, women's conference, is scheduled Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4, at Shawnee Alliance Church, Lima, according to Kathy Burrus, chair of the event.  

Burrus said, "Ever wonder what God’s opinion is about passion and intimacy in marriage? How does your spiritual health influence your sexual health?"
