Elementary students of the month named

January students of the month at the Bluffton elementary school were announced recently. They are:

First grade: Lauren Gray, Cara Young, Kyler Kinn, Steven Neely
Second grade: Kylie Mathewson, Julia Smallcombe, Levi McClain, Alexcia Justus
Third grade: Baylor Garmatter, Kyle Koontz, Andrew Lovett, Gabe Colley
Fourth grade: Raychel Avila, Logan Rhodes, Luke Young
Fifth grade: Lucie Fett, Kim Gordon, Katie Heinze, Dakota Jollif.

MMH Mobile Meal volunteer needed

The Mennonite Memorial Home has a need for a volunteer in its Mobile Meal program.

"We deliver Mobile Meals to people in the Bluffton community. Each day the meals are delivered by a local volunteer. Currently we have a need for a volunteer on the third Monday of each month," said Mary Ann Ring, volunteer coordinator.

"The volunteering only takes about 45 miutes and starts at 11:30 a.m. If any one is interested they can contact Ring at 419-358-1015.

Athletic booster spaghetti dinner Feb. 12

The Bluffton Athletic Boosters will hold a spaghetti dinner at Bluffton Middle School from 4 to 6 on Saturday, February 12, prior to the JV/Varsity Home boys' basketball game against Liberty Benton.

The dinner includes spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad, garlic bread and a beverage. Desserts will be sold for an additional cost.

Eat in or carry out. The dinner is $6 and tickets can be purchased in any of the school offices or from any winter athlete.

Rare photo of AU railroad tower

Here's a rare steam photo of the Bluffton AU (interlocking) tower. It was located at the Nickel Plate-AC&Y crossing near the County Line Road, just north of Tower Automotive.

The AC&Y Historical Society's archivist Bob Lucas is working on WWII-era NKP-AC&Y interchange records in the AC&YHS's archive. Robert Peacock, society president ask anyone with addition photos or information on the towers contact him at [email protected].

Sportsmen's Club announce website; now on Facebook

The Bluffton Sportsmen's Club announces that it has launched a website and that the club is also on Facebook, according to Ryan Motter, club vice president.

Persons interested in checking out the website go to: www.blufftonsportsmensclub.com. Persons may also reach the club on Facebook at Bluffton Community Sportsmen's Club.

The website is very informative. It includes the condition of both the Buckeye and National Quarry plus activities of the club.
