If the shoe no longer fits donate it to BFR
Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, invites area residents to “repurpose your shoes,” though a shoe collection held Oct. 2 to Dec. 1.
This is BFR’s fourth shoe drive, which generates money for BFR programs and recycles old shoes. BFR earns money for shoes collected. Since 2014, the project has generated over $4,000 to BFR.
Last year’s drive, BFR’s largest ever, generated $2,021. Jenny Pilarowski, BFR board member, said that 25 pair of shoes fit in each bag and this year’s BFR’s goal is to collect over 200 bags.
Here’s how it works:
BFR invites residents to drop off used shoes during the drive period. Shoes should be gently worn, new or used. Three other shoe collections points in town are:
• Polished
• Village Cut ‘n’ Curl
• Spectrum Salon
Other area businesses willing to place a shoe collection box in their store may contact BFR.
BFR partners with Funds2orgs.com in this program. Used shoes collected are repurposed instead of going into landfills. Shoes collected are sent to community- based groups around the world to be repaired and resold or recycled.
