Friday evening at BFR
It’s Bluffton Area Relay for Hope weekend. All activities are free and open to the public.
Activities are from 4:30 p.m. to midnight, Friday, June 21, at Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
This year’s relay is a family-friendly event and includes a range of activities, according to Lynda Best of the Relay committee.
The evening’s schedule follows:
• 4:30-5:30 p.m. – Music by Katie Hohenbrink and Shelia Hausknecht
• 5 p.m. – Survivor meal
• 5:30-6:15 p.m. – Music by Courtney McLaughlin
• 6:15 p.m. – Opening ceremony
Presentation of colors, National Anthem
Invocation, special laps for survivors, caregivers and team
• 6:45-7:30 p.m. – Pie judging
• 6:30 -7 p.m. – Music by Courtney McLaughlin
• 7 – 8 p.m. – Music by Jim Boedecker
• 7:30 p.m. – Pie auction, inside BFR
• 8-9 p.m. – Music by First United Methodist Church praise band
• 8:30 p.m. – Quarter lap
• 8:30 p.m. – Luminary sales ends
• 9 p.m. – Fireman lap and remembrance service
(No walking on track)
• 9:30 p.m. – Silent memory lap
• 9:30 p.m. – Registration for glow run/walk
• 10 p.m. – Silent auction ends
• 10:30 p.m. – 5-K glow run/walk
• 11 p.m. – Music
• Midnight – Closing ceremony
Food options during the evening include food trucks from A to Z Portion Meats and Bubba C BBQ. Popcorn, ice cream floats and beverages will be sold by the Village Cut ‘n’ Curl team.
Luminaries are $5 each. They are available on site until 8:30 p.m.
Auctions: 5 to 9: 30 p.m. is the silent auction by Trinity Lutheran Church; 6:45 p.m. is the pie contest judging and at 7:30 p.m. is the pie auction, by Trinity Lutheran Church. Approximately 30 pies are in the auction.
Raffle prizes:
• $100 gift certificate from A-Z Meats and George Foreman patio grill
• 2nd prize $50 gift card Community Market and air fryer
The auction includes 140 items. The items include collectable toy tractors, places to visit (Dollywood) and gift cards to various eating establishments.
Putt Putt Golf, sponsored by M&R Plumbing and Heating is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
